Jerran Schiller and Logan Ptak backed a 13-hit attack with three hits apiece and Ian Tribble delivered six strong innings on the mound, as the Alvin Yellowjackets cruised past Clear Brook 9-1 in 24-6A Baseball action Friday night at Nolan Ryan Field.
The victory was the third straight for Alvin (10-16 overall, 5-7) and also their first series sweep over a district foe this season. The Jackets opened the series with a 7-0 triumph April 17 in Friendswood.
Alvin dominated again with the bats Friday, spotting Brook an early 1-0 advantage and scoring in every inning but the first.
Ptak’s RBI double tied it in the bottom of the second inning, while Schiller provided run-scoring singles in both the third and fourth frames. Ptak (who just missed hitting for the cycle with a single, double and a triple) added a two-run triple in the fifth and Noah Webb also drove in a pair of runs in the contest.
Tribble struck out nine and limited the Wolverines to one hit and one walk to pick up the win on the mound.
