Clear Falls rode the hot hand of quarterback Gavin Esquivel to deal the Alvin Yellowjackets a 48-7 homecoming defeat Friday night at AISD Memorial Stadium

Esquivel went a perfect 12- for-12 in the first half for 319 yards and threw five touchdown passes, as the Knights scored on every first-half possession.

The Jackets’ TD came on a three-yard run by Isreal Enriquez late in the fourth quarter.

Falls received the opening kickoff and took five plays to reach the end zone. Esquivel hooked up with Vincent Garcia on a 60-yard bomb with 10:13 left in the first period.

William Hay added the extra point for a 7-0 Knights’ lead.

Alvin fumbled on its first play from scrimmage and Esquivel cashed in two plays later with a 24-yard TD toss to Brandon Woodson.

The Falls’ junior signal caller added two more scoring strikes to Woodson (17 and 59 yards) and a 52-yard fling to Tyson Webb to give the Knights a 41-0 cushion at the break.

Robert Hatley’s interception set up the Alvin TD late. Richard Valdez also delivered a 20- yard run in the series.

Walker Conn grabbed three receptions for 68 yards in the contest, as well.
