Alvin Yellowjackets suffered a 4-3 defeat in the regular season finale to Dickinson Friday night at Nolan Ryan Field.
The loss combined with wins by both Clear Creek and Clear Lake eliminated the Jackets (10-11 overall, 4-8) from the playoff race. Creek and Lake met on Saturday in a play-in game for the fourth and final playoff spot with the Falcons rallying for a 9-7 win in Dickinson.
Despite falling behind to the Gators by an early 4-0 count for the second straight game in the series, the Jackets fought back to make things close. However, Alvin also hurt its own cause by leaving seven runners on base.
